The Ramco 600 is a heavy-duty, fully telescopic security bollard built to stop unauthorised vehicles using your driveway or parking bay. It stands 600mm above ground when raised and drops flush into its ground sleeve when you don't need it, so the drive stays clear and safe to walk across.

In stainless steel it is the right choice within about 5 miles of the coast, where salt air attacks powder coating — stainless resists it.

DIY installation and maintenance guide

The Ramco 600 is designed to be installed by a competent DIYer or a site contractor. Two things decide whether it still works in ten years' time: depth and drainage.

Installation basics

• The foundation: concrete the ground sleeve in at 950mm depth, in a hole around 200mm x 200mm.
• Drainage is vital: sit the sleeve on a bed of gravel so water drains away. Do not cement the lower half of the sleeve — that traps water and damages the mechanism.

Maintenance tips

• Operation: always lower the post by hand using the handle. Never drop it into the sleeve.
• Lock care: the key should turn easily. If you feel resistance, don't force it — clean and lubricate first.
• Stowage: close the lid once the post is down so grit and stones can't get into the sleeve.

How deep does the hole need to be for a Ramco 600?
